I know there are at least four Criterion Channel subscribers on the board right now, maybe there will be more if this thread is good enough.
The Criterion Channel is the official streaming service of the Criterion Collection. To my mind, it's the best streaming service available right now, bar none. The collection is huge and the content is A+. There's a wide variety of stuff on there, basically anything that would appeal to cinephiles. Plus, everything looks great, the app works well, and they do a good job of including special features and commentary tracks for a lot of the movies.
They also do a phenomenal job of putting together series each month. Here's some of what's coming up in February:
I need to move the Criterion app up on my TV's homepage, I tend to forget about it unless I have a specific thing I'm aiming to watch. But big fan of almost everything I've seen on there.

Depends on the library you're using Kanopy through, if I understand correctly. I've never really been happy with the quality I've gotten through Kanopy and I just don't use it
Plus, the Criterion Channel is more than just streaming versions of the DVD collection. There's a ton of other great stuff on there.

Yeah Kanopy is one of the worst streaming platforms I have ever used, almost every film I've tried to watch turns pixelated no matter what my internet speed.

Is it fair to say the Criterion app is your best friend?
It's definitely one of the most worthwhile purchases I've made in the past year. The amount of extras and the way in which they're presented are great, and the thematic collections they curate are perfect for someone like me, who has a lot of interest in the films they have but feels pretty dwarfed by the amount and depth of options available.
It's presentation makes me wish there were similar types of platforms available for other forms of art, like albums. It'd be hard to do exactly what Criterion's able to do, in part due to the organization's unique history, but it's still fun to imagine.

24 hour 50% off flash sale at criterion.com. A large personal collection doesn't really appeal to me, but it's nice to have a few blu-rays that I can return to easily. I'm going to be picking up the Blu-ray of Melville's Army of Shadows

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

We are usually preoccupied with outdoor adventures and/or errands during the typical time of a Saturday matinee. I'll pass, but thank you for sharing this thread.
