Dang. I forgot this aired today and not tomorrow. Just came in to see what's up since last week's episode and got myself spoiled in the best way possible. Fuck yeah Cad Bane.

Why she was in the island? She leaves already? It was only there so we can have someone telling Mando about Grogu and then the scene with Luke, and that scene could have been better.

So you just wanted more context for the scenes. That makes sense.VinylGuy wrote:Why she was in the island? She leaves already? It was only there so we can have someone telling Mando about Grogu and then the scene with Luke, and that scene could have been better.

As opposed to appearances by Cobb Vanth, R2D2, Grogu, Luke Skywalker, Cad Bane, Din Djarin, and the Ghost of Obi-Wan?VinylGuy wrote:Ashoka appearing in this episode was distracting.

I nearly rolled my eyes at Luke holding onto the "Jedi can't have attachments" mantra, but I guess it makes sense timeline-wise, as he hasn't learned his lesson with his academy falling yet.

I would think that's a mantra he would have ditched. He's a successful Jedi with a tight knit group of friends.Simple Torture wrote:I nearly rolled my eyes at Luke holding onto the "Jedi can't have attachments" mantra, but I guess it makes sense timeline-wise, as he hasn't learned his lesson with his academy falling yet.

Yeah I would think he would try a different approach training Jedi. Since friends and family are important to him.B wrote:I would think that's a mantra he would have ditched. Just so lovely seeing Luke starting his academy, and R2 keeping an eye on things. Just thinking Leia and Han are somewhere trying to keep the new republic functioning.

Having friends and family isn't the same as having attachments.blueviper wrote:Yeah I would think he would try a different approach training Jedi. To y'all's point however it will be interesting to discover what exactly Luke's been up to in the five years since RotJ. I imagine that stuff has shaped his Jedi takes here.

most of those had some purpose to the story. But joe is right, i need more context on why she appeared and disappeared.B wrote:As opposed to appearances by Cobb Vanth, R2D2, Grogu, Luke Skywalker, Cad Bane, Din Djarin, and the Ghost of Obi-Wan?VinylGuy wrote:Ashoka appearing in this episode was distracting.

Re: The Book of Boba Fett - Disney+ 2021
I think that's totally fair. I'd like more context as well. Because as much as I loved it on a pure emotional level, it was a little weird. I'm with you there.VinylGuy wrote:most of those had some purpose to the story. Re: The Book of Boba Fett - Disney+ 2021
I liked that aspect. Leaves room for the "big story" while moving this one forward. It's that tip-of-the-iceberg storytelling that I love in Star Wars. There were so many HOLY SHIT moments in this that making that one a big thing would have been too much, I think. I like knowing that they've known each other for a while. That makes me excited to learn that full story.VinylGuy wrote:also kinda felt like she meeting Luke was supposed to be this big thing, and here its a little scene ¨ey, whats up¨ ¨im fine, you¨

Re: The Book of Boba Fett - Disney+ 2021
I still would have liked Luke to realize that's what the Jedi got wrong. His attachments to his friends ended the Empire and saved his father. I don't think Vader's downfall was his love for Padme. Fuck the no attachments shit.epilogue wrote:Having friends and family isn't the same as having attachments.blueviper wrote:Yeah I would think he would try a different approach training Jedi. You still don't have the whole story. Give it a minute, my dude.B wrote:I still would have liked Luke to realize that's what the Jedi got wrong. Re: The Book of Boba Fett - Disney+ 2021
Also, B, here's a fun exercise for you.
Instead of constantly fighting the thing you were given, what if you tried to engage with it as presented. Maybe stop thinking about what you want or would have done and think about what you saw, what actually happened.
Ask questions about what it was, why was it that way, what does such and such mean, what do we learn from it, is this telling us something about xyz...
What if you didn't just dismiss it and revert to "well what I would have done!" or "wouldn'tbecoolif!!!!!" You might get a lot more out of this and have more fun. Or at least maybe you'd have a stronger relationship with the story/material and see your jaded instincts fade.
Or maybe not. Maybe you don't give a shit about any of that. I don't really care what your relationship is to this stuff. Maybe you're fine with where you're at and I should shut the hell up.

I watch my Star Wars with a nine-year-old, so that's my headspace.
