Nice. Licorice Pizza at the top is both a little surprising and not surprising at all, whatever that means. 20 is a lot for a single year. Do you still feel very positively about the bottom of the list or are you getting more into "it's good, I liked it" territory by then?

I really enjoyed all these movies for different reasons. Nobody is the only one I'd say falls into the "it's just good" category. If I had kept the list going, I would've gotten into stuff like Army of the Dead, Godzilla vs. Kong, First Cow, and Bad Luck Banging Or Loony Porn. Movies I liked but had some issues with

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

what’s your thinking on MATRIX & SUICIDE?

I put my thoughts on TSS over here and at various other points in that thread, I think it's really wonderful. I watched it twice in the theater I had so much fun with it.

As for Matrix Resurrections, I just find it extremely silly in the best possible way, and also struck me as a highly personal film about the tension between Lana Wachowski's relationship with her own work and the public perception of it. It's got some bizarre turns and everyone's firing on all cylinders, I love it.

I just noticed The French Dispatch is streaming here, which may change things because I missed it during its extremely brief theatrical release here. I'll watch it tonight and might revise the ranking
