Watt, a 31-year-old Long Island native and recent Grammy winner for producer of the year, has worked closely with such mega pop stars as Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus and Dua Lipa as well as Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Elton John and Ozzy Osbourne. But he’s quick to confess that his first love has always been Pearl Jam. “I’m a super-fan who has probably seen them live more than 40 times,” he says. ”I grew up playing guitar along with their songs in my bedroom as a kid.”

Looking ahead, Vedder recently told MOJO that he expects to continue collaborating with Watt on a new Pearl Jam album, perhaps as soon as this year in between planned tours of North America and Europe. Not surprisingly, Watt is ecstatic at the prospect of furthering his work with his musical heroes: “I worship each and every one of them: my favorite bass player, lead guitar player, riff writer, drummer and singer could all be in the same room with me at some point, and I’m gonna die and go to heaven.”

Definitely hard not to relate to this, the idea of being over the moon at getting to work at this level with your childhood heroes, and as a guy who was rubbing elbows with Neil Young and Pete Townshend after just a few years in the business, you have to imagine Ed relates too. Hoping it all works out and he's able to get as good of an album out of them as Josh Evans did.

Watt is living my dream. I, too, studied every goddamn licka nd spent hours in my room playing along to PJ. Still do!

This is a compelling post. Musically there is really something great about the Haves. The vocal melody has well has a very timeless classy quality to it. Now the story that surround the lyric are out in the open it is elevated. Where it since in the sequence makes it a intermission the way Oceans is which is a great idea. Eddie has enough empathy or actually so much that he creates a song about how a lovely homeless couple has so much more than many of the folks he runs shoulders with.
Is The Longway Nothingman 2 ? I can't disconnect them.

I like the intermission comment, I like that The Haves doesn't kill the momentum by being track 3 or something

I agree that the song is sweeter knowing what it's actually about, and I do think the musicianship is tasteful (including the slightly hoarse quality of the vocals and vfx, aside from "owuup" at the beginning)

Fall Out Today has a moment that reminds me of Like a Rolling Stone and the Wallflower's Difference.
The Dark once I heard a quality version reminds me of The Hooters.
