With the Variety interview highlighting how Watt really assisted Ed in the song writing process makes me hopeful that he can do that for the other members and produce exactly what you are referring to.Kevin Davis wrote:Cameron, always and forever. I feel like Stone is kind of a wildcard -- really, since Binaural, his only two sole writing credits have (I think) been "All or None" and "Buckle Up." I love both of those. It's hard to fault him for collaborations that didn't pan out (i.e. "Amongst the Waves," "Let the Records Play"). It's not like he's bringing in music that's completely DOA; there are some cool changes in "ATW," and "LTRP" has a classic Stone swagger to it. But once they enter that band environment, through whatever combination of factors may influence them, they just don't take shape into compelling finished products.Strat wrote:I know we like to bang on Vedder these days, but its not like McCready is writing Faithful or Stone is writing (insert a number of good songs) anymore for the band.tragabigzanda wrote:I think that reviewer got their wires crossed on who’s bringing commonplace ideas to the table, but I agree that “compromise” is a great way to describe every album from ST onward
Ament and Cameron are the most interesting song writers in the band right now by a long shot.
The different flavors we got on Yield, Binaural, and Riot Act to an extent, from the sort of "segregation of duties" in the songwriting, was really the most diverse and surprising PJ ever felt to me. I just wish we could go back to hearing some more of the other guys' voices, with less input from Eddie (whose songs have a place, don't get me wrong -- just too much of one sometimes). Gigaton was a step back in that direction, but I remain ever hopeful that next time around we'll get to see an even bigger one.

That 'in the studio' video with him definitely makes it clear why he may be appealing to Ed; he seems like someone with a lot of energy, and can throw a lot of ideas and arrangements at a song very quickly.

When is the last time you were optimistic for new PJ or EV material? You're one of the few members here I like to see surprised by a few songs on the recent stuff.

I've only heard the live recording available on YouTube and it immediately grabbed me. I believe you got to listen to the studio version so I'm glad to know it sounds good on the album too.Got Some wrote:Power of right is amazing

I am just going to act like a twit and say enjoy these last 30 hours where there’s a world without Earthling in it. Everything will be different Friday morning because we will then have the album and that will be that. The anticipation is part of the experience.
(Not really, but that was a fun little note to write anyway).
