On My Way could be a Riot Act take stylistically, not even kidding

That first song is pretty awful, it's shooting for 80s Peter Gabriel but there's no compelling musical idea to carry the pastiche through (not dissimilar to Long Way's Tom Petty-isms).
I dont think spenno will like it tbf
Stip on the other hand liked backspacer and Im assuming will like this.

You can see my general thoughts in the other thread, but it seems to me in some weird way that your take on whether Eddie Vedder is allowed to just have fun could inform the way you feel about this album. I never expected to think poppy Cure but why the hell not? I enjoyed this a lot, mostly because it never pretends to be so damned important. It’s good fun. It doesn’t have to be anything more.

Brother should of been first single.
Long way and haves are not even close to the best representation of what this album is.

He’s finding and demanding hope while dealing with severe heavy loss. Throughout the entire record.liebzz wrote:You can see my general thoughts in the other thread, but it seems to me in some weird way that your take on whether Eddie Vedder is allowed to just have fun could inform the way you feel about this album. I'm amazed how phoned in the lyrics of the three singles feel to virtually everything else; there's some clever and funny writing here

Agreed, up there with the very best of Ed's more experimental, atmospheric stuff. And so moving to hear them together.Farmer John wrote:On My Way is so good.

Re: Eddie Vedder - Earthling
this album makes me wonder whether the moments on Backspacer that COULD have been ironic and actual fun and hilarious may have just been captured poorly by BO'B, who seems to be a guy who takes everything way too seriously

The Dark might be the poppiest thing he's ever done and I like it and it should have been a single.
