Eddie Vedder - Earthling

When a band is but a fraction of Pearl Jam, but they aren't zero Pearl Jam.

Johnny Guitar is better than anything on Earthling.

True, but that's kind of the "fun" exception.

What Im really liking about this, and why it might be easy/quick to rank it above BS and LB is that...this album feels like a band really going for it and having a blast doing it. BS and LB just felt so fucking stiff. Whether that is production, songwriting, matt cameron, or lack of true inspiration...

Song quality aside on this....

This just sounds inspired and fun. i am relating to that most importantly right now. This hit the spot today.

I think the fact that everyone here cites "Johnny Guitar" as the height of Backspacer makes me dislike the song more

It's a terrible song in my opinion, bottom 5 of all-time for PJ.

Also, I have to admit that both Long Way and, yes, The Haves have jammed their choruses into my skull quite a bit today.

True, but that's kind of the "fun" exception.
Don’t like BS, but always loved Johnny Guitar. I don’t agree that nothing on here is better. We’ve had it for a couple hours… I dunno. Good/Evil is surprising good, the closer is short but pretty awesome. BTC is great… weren’t people going to be satisfied if we got a few keepers here?

If backspacer had cool 80s drums, real space in the mix for keys and synths, extended outros and less “hollerin’ n howlin’ “ EV, it could’ve been fun..

I’m thinking like iggy pop - blah blah blah..

I’m about to listen to earthling for breakfast, I wasn’t really interested in it, but new album reactions on RM are too much fun.

judging by what you list here as what you wanted from Backspacer, I think you'll be OK with this

It's a bad sign, for sure.

Johnny Guitar is ok, but can't be the best song on any record, come on.
