Eddie Vedder - Earthling

When a band is but a fraction of Pearl Jam, but they aren't zero Pearl Jam.

But actually, that's how this album feels to me, and it does seem like he's saying as much himself there at the start.

It’s still terribly tone deaf and missed the mark. You think this elderly couple have more than the haves coz they have each other? I’m pretty sure they’d like to have a roof over their head, healthcare, a dignified life. I know what Eddie is trying to say, but if you’re going to point out the beauty of loyal love in spite of hardships, then fucking do it. The lyrics don’t get at that. They are clumsy as hell. It’s still a shit song. .
I thought they were just old. Now they’re old AND homeless?!? Tough go.

The album certainly recovers, but the echo victor stuff at the beginning is rough.

OK, I'm one song in.

Invincible: this reminds me a lot of REM's It Happened Today. I really, really like this. It's super catchy, and I love the drums being so front and center.

Power of Right: oof. This sounds like it's going to be played a lot on the radio in Tulsa. sounds like an old remy zero song. it kind of meanders meaninglessly.

man, this album is already super glossy. can't say i'm a fan of this production.

long way - nothing much else to say about this one that hasn't already been said. it's pretty decent for what it is.

I guess this album is fine. Nothing I've heard thus far has kept me from wandering around the to do some chores.

Brother the Cloud - I really like this song, in the same vein I like Amongst the Waves (fight me). But I still can't get past that stupid breakdown bridge.
