It also held some vague personal resonance, since I met my now-wife when I was 18 and she was 27.
(I realise Gary is 15 and that's a big difference, but still.)

The classic rock choices were fun, but I was most excited about the use of Blue Sands:

Probably more style than substance, but I liked it anyway.

There was one really haunting moment where Cooper Hoffman reminded me of his father. It wasn't his face or his voice, which obviously have some family resemblances, but there was just like a 2-second (or maybe less) shot where he his body movement made me feel like I was watching the same guy, like it was a ghost. I won't be affected by it in the same way next time because I'll be looking for it, so it was really cool this first time.

Sort of? It was when they were filming the commercial for the mayoral candidate in the wilderness. And Cooper is behind the camera with his body bent and he sort of stands up halfway and I was like woah!spike wrote:Did it involve his large posterior?tragabigzanda wrote:what part was it?!Simple Torture wrote:There was one really haunting moment where Cooper Hoffman reminded me of his father. Like I said, it probably won't be so affecting the second time around. But I catch myself sometimes standing like my dad or moving like I remember him moving when he was younger, and I wonder if this is just one of those things. Kinesthetic family resemblance.

I've had the same sensation with John David Washington all of a sudden reminding me of Denzel. A few times, actually, but especially in Tenet. The voice makes it obvious sometimes, but when it happens based on movement or posture it's much more interesting

I still haven't seen this. I saw it was available for digital streaming, but you have to pay 20 dollars to buy it. Instead, I opted to pre-order the blu ray for 25 dollars, cause it simply makes more sense. Unfortunately, I have to wait a couple more weeks to see it now. You would think they could give me the digital code early with the pre-order. Really a challenge to stay patient with this one.

So, still haven't seen this (sorry Argo) but I've read some about it and haven't seen anyone mention why it's called Licorice Pizza. Then on a podcast the other day someone mentioned how that used to be a record store in LA back in the 70s. I think that's fun. Is that in the movie?
