Also, little bay scallops are infinitely better than meaty divers.
1. Chalky and gritty are absolutely different things.
2. I've never had scallops that are either.
Way to flex your seafood privilege.

1. Yes but macphisto is a little goofy so I'm willing to meet him halfway
2. You have most certainly had one or the other.
I promise, I have not.

Scallops are fatty and warm and plumb. I've neve in my entire life had a scallop that was gritty or chalky.

I would vomit.

sorry, i thought you meant you'd never had neither a bay nor a diver scallop, to which I was thinking "if you've eaten a scallop, literally impossible."

I am glad you've never had a chalky scallop. It tends to happen when they are overcooked.
ah

that makes total sense

sorry for the confusion

Yeah scallops can be easily over cooked. When perfectly cooked with a sear, they’re melt in your mouth delicious.

The best way to ensure your scallops are grit free is to buy diver scallops—which are also more environmentally friendly. Most sea scallops are fished by dragging heavy nets across the ocean floor—and in the process, the scallop can pick up bits of the sand. Diver scallops are actually harvested by hand (thus the name).

Sorry, you keep getting shitty scallops, man. I can't imagine having a gritty scallop. That seems awful.

I’ve had them, I don’t keep getting them. Just wanted to shut down the gritty-scallops-don’t-exist gaslighting routine.

I've also never had gritty scallops. Mac needs a new seafood guy.

I had some Costco lobster bisque for lunch, and it was creamy and delicious. No grit.
