Re: Eddie Vedder - Earthling
My rankings;
Love:
Mrs Mills
Try
Invincible
Power of Right
Really enjoy:
The Dark
Fallout Today
Brother in the Cloud
On my way
Meh
Long Way
Rose of Jericho
Good and Evil
No Thanks
The Haves
Picture
Pretty happy, all things considered. Got some songs I’ll definitely revisit and some I’ll forget about. Not sure I need to hear PJ do any of these.
I’m not an audiophile so can’t say too much about production and whatnot, but Watt seemed to get Ed motivated so I’d be interested to see what would come out of PJ working with him, if that is the case.

Aside from our expectations and the obvious PJ references/comparison, the album is very good in its own right.

Power of Right is climbing fast. Is it a rocker or an anthem?
1. Invincible won't change set in stone maybe my favorite since GTF.
Not maybe it is.

Running out of ideas with the call backs and homages in gigaton and completely with this one. Kind of like weiland solo albums just using influences to get by. Like the weiland solo records this one is executed well.
Power of right keeps getting better.
Long way is not that bad. I like the halves lyrics but hate the vocalizations and think their could have been a more interesting instrumental, w no synch.
Brother the cloud is the only one that I think would have been more interesting w PJ.
Rose of Jericho is very good.
So is try. My favorite part is the 1,2,3,4s.
I think it would be pretty cool if Mrs Mills was a hit single.
I like this for what it is, don't think watt would be good for a PJ record, songs like supersonic, let the records play, better days, just breathe, comes then goes belong on EV records or bsides

What what and what about Gigaton? I thought the general consensus was that it was a big return to form? I had generally gone off PJ but I still regularly listened to Gigaton as a stand-alone album in their catalog. Who Ever Said is the only thing that sounds a bit forced but everything is greatKalevi wrote:Running out of ideas with the call backs and homages in gigaton and completely with this one. I'm shocked at how good this album is.

You wouldn’t expect one person to reflect a consensus? Well I mean if you understand the meaning of the word consensus, it would be self evident. Oh you are saying that because you are implying that I am referring to just the comment I responded to instead of the consensus here and on other threads.Ms Harmless wrote:I wouldn't expect one person to reflect a consensusHuell wrote:What what and what about Gigaton? LOL
a "consensus" doesn't mean "literally every person on RM likes Gigaton"; it means that generally it's well-liked here
