Brother the Cloud sounds like another great song, Amongst the Waves. Of course it doesn’t reach those heights, but still very good. The fuck you’s at the end don’t make the song any better though.

I'm just not really sold on the final section being angry but the rest sounding at least sonically happy; but PJ has ALWAYS done this and BtC is a better late career example than many

That's what I thought (re: the fuck you's) until I paid more attention to their context, which is hey, if you go before me, say fuck you to my brother my friend (ostensibly for leaving me). That's actually an intense, bittersweet thought. I went from thinking it stuck out lamely to actually being quite moved by it.

That entire Zane Lowe interview was good. Interesting stuff. This Watt guy kinda growing on me. And man Chad Smith looks old. Didn’t realize he was over 60.

Mrs. Mills is to Earthling what Buckle up is to Gigaton. A nice little song that might not quite fit the album but is still so deserving to be included. The song you would fight for even if you don’t necessarily love it.

I feel like it's Picture that doesn't fit, but that's fine

Mrs Mills is a great closing song imo and I'm not saying it's the same BUT I feel like it kinda serves a similar purpose to "All Those Yesterdays", which was also Beatles-esque and had bass I thought was trombone at first

When I watched that Springsteen video I was more surprised at how clearly Ed shows his age in his face; this makes sense, though, as I hadn't really seen him since the Lightning Bolt press sprint a good 9 (!!!) years ago.

Being invested in Eddie Vedder may have something to do with people's liking of this record but to be honest, even though I'm a huge Ed fan, I would not be gushing over this thing if I didn't think the songs were good. I wasn't posting about Ukulele songs because it was not something that made me go "wow". There were a few nice songs, none were offensive but I don't really seek that record out. ITW was better but again, I'd be OK if he never released it. This one seems an essential release to me, something I am actually glad he put out. It is the quality of the songs and how good he himself sounds. And this deserves repeating: he sounds mostly fantastic on this album.

OK so I'm not a huge audiophile but,

do you think this kind of "flat" production that lacks depth and dynamics is meant to (whether or not it actually does) sound good for The Kids on their phones? I just wonder because I'm listening to it now that way and I feel like I can hear much of the sonic range, even without headphones
