In early 2018, the Parliament of Latvia has officially introduced the legislation which would limit the use of the Russian language in national schools. The objective was to set Latvian as the primary language of instruction, increasing the number of courses held in this tongue in minority schools from 40% to 80%.

The language limitations are not the only measure Latvia has taken in past few years that affect the level of Russian presence in this country. In February 2021, 16 Russian-language TV channels were suspended following the failure to identify representatives of the broadcasts.
Ethnically cleansing Germans in '45 was okay, but doing so to Russians in '91 was not? If Ukraine had been more proactive when they had nukes, they would not be in this predicament.

US intel leaked that the invasion was specifically going to be today. Seemed unlikely Russia would actually invade the very specific day US intel outlined.

The Ruskies have motorized units deployed to the border region with BMP-1s. I figured they had given them all to Syria at this point.

I do find it hilarious that Russia thinks that anyone buys into surrounding an entire country as a “military exercise”.

We probably used euphemisms, but we made it clear we were invading if we didn't get X. Russia is doing this, "neener neener, I'm not touching you" thing.

It is kinda of funny that they are using the same justification we used in Bosnia (preventing genocide).

Exactly. We’re experts at what they are doing. How do they think they can lie to us about it and expect us to buy it?

Wonder if not disturbing the Olympic games that their ally hosted was ever a part of the timing of this. We’ll see.
