Eddie Vedder - Earthling

When a band is but a fraction of Pearl Jam, but they aren't zero Pearl Jam.

No, I just hadn’t heard that.

Anyway I have the CD in my car and I’m on my third spin through the whole thing. Review coming at some point.

Into the wild is way better

Is it "cocktail" or "crocodile" enunciated as "croc-dile"?

Yeah, I love the vocal performance with the exception of the title-phrase centerpiece aspect. The rest is so great that I totally dig the song, but it could have hit another level for me otherwise.

Power of Right is towards the bottom of the record for me (probably only behind Haves and Long Way). Tell me more about what does it for you.

Interesting. It's my favorite song on the album, so far.

Ed's vocal tone/mixing/performance is just perfect on Fallout... I love how it gently, flows in/out of the verses.

The harmonies add a wonderful element.

Such a smooth song in terms of the acoustic guitars/lead vocal/harmonies and lead guitar solo.

Can't deny me says hi.
I think that's a lot better. Difference between a 0 star rating, and a 1,5.
Can't deny me is a 0. Picture is different, it's not what we should expect, but it's not a 0 star song by any means.
I could consider -1 for Picture.

the Dark is the catchiest thing Ed has ever written.

These nights with the sky still full of stars, yea, im gonna find you in the dark.

Ugh.

"I should be lost in your eye....."

Ugh!

So fucking good. I kind of didn't think Ed had it in him. When i think of pearl jam and Ed's career i dont really think of Melody - to be honest. There was/is something else about his writing but nothing was ever pure saccharine goodness.

This shit? ill take a hit of all of that.

He's two moments on Gigaton and Earthling where he's taking simple words and wrapping it in a wonderful melody:

Comes than goes chorus

Dark chorus

Are you ready for a bit, a bit of Echo Victor?

God, I love that. Can we start referring to him as Echo Victor? He should start every concert with that question.
