Re: 5. Alone vs. Rearviewmirror vs Cropduster
Ouch. All 3 of these are great and should advance. Alone is better than half of Vs. and even a few tracks on Ten, and I love all three versions of this song. I get why they never released it (it's not doing much Black doesn't already do, and better) but that doesn't take away from how great Eddie sounds or how jaggedly awesome that riff is. And Cropduster is probably my favorite of Matt's musical compositions (I like some of his music, I just wish he'd stayed away from lyrics).
However Rearviewmirror is one of Pearl Jam's best songs, full stop. After the new Gigaton songs there's probably not a Pearl Jam song I've cared about more over the last 5 years. It should win this thing

A bit tired of RVM. Cropduster gets the vote.

If RVM had been a recent winner but still in the tournament, I might boost Cropduster over it just for fun. But since RVM is not one of those excluded winners and is here, gotta go with it.

I appreciate the greatness of RVM, but it's never been a favourite of mine. Cropduster is a Top 10.

RVM is an all time great Pearl Jam song. We do get tired of them because they are so central to the band’s existence. As super fans, we tend to look to the edges of their sound for satisfaction once that central lane has been occupied for so long - then we hear the song live and are reminded why we fell in love with this band in the first place. Rearviewmirror is unquestionably one of those songs and gets my vote.

i agree with this broad sentiment, but RVM is one of those songs where the live version never comes close to the studio for meliebzz wrote:RVM is an all time great Pearl Jam song. Rearviewmirror beat Alone in the (TSIS) 2007 tournament (the voting tallies for that tournament are patchily reported).
Alone has an average vote tally of 34 per tournament, Rearviewmirror 172, Cropduster 50.

Re: 5. Alone vs. Rearviewmirror vs Cropduster
RVM would've been an easy vote in years past, but I've changed. The slightest extended break between chords during "everyone is practicing," the way it hangs open for juuuust a hair long than it should, is much more exciting to me these days, so Cropduster it is.

Very close between Cropduster and RVM. RVM by the virtue of Dave A’s energy.

"Alone," while serviceable, doesn't really belong in the company of "Cropduster" or "Rearviewmirror." Those two songs are both titans, and I'm not really sure how to pick one over another. I'll have to think about it for a bit.

Re: 5. Alone vs. Rearviewmirror vs Cropduster
Love the melody of "Alone" and pretty much everything about "RVM," but "Cropduster" is an elite PJ track for me. It's a track that presents as kind of sideways and deliberately cumbersome, but I've always found it had a real grayscale beauty to it -- like a black and white photo of a sunset. Plus it's a Cameron track, which I'm always going to vote for unless I just absolutely can't justify it. Here I easily can. One thing I've never thought to ask before today for some reason, though -- where does the title come from?
Vote for "Cropduster."

20 years later " Cropduster " sound as fresh as the first I listened to it.
The rythm, the lyrics, the guitar, the vocals : the band sounds so good on this song.
