There's a dash of Nirvana in Good and Evil if you squint and turn your head sideways.

Just finished the Smartless pod with Ed and maybe it’s just me but I can’t get over how much Jason Bateman sounds like Stone. Anyway, good interview.

Re: Eddie Vedder - Earthling
To an extent, I think so -- I don't think there's really any consistency to how albums are credited in this regard (across the board, not just in PJ universe). Sometimes it's a solo credit, sometimes individual plus band, sometimes just a band name. Probably just what feels right to the artists and/or marketing people at the time.Ms Harmless wrote: is "solo album" all down to branding?
On this album, even though most of the songs have joint credits, I do think the number of songs where Eddie plays guitar (or piano) gives something of an indication of how many of the principal song ideas were his. There's a pretty high correlation in PJ between Eddie playing guitar and Eddie being the principal writer. In this case it seems like about half of the songs, maybe a little less. But I'd imagine that, even when the ideas came from someone else, or came into being more organically as jams, the musicians were probably looking to Ed for direction, approval, final veto power, etc., in a way that is considerably less democratic than in PJ.

I’ll note that in 2009(?), Ben Harper wanted to start that band called Relentless 7, and wanted to record and tour as that, and I believe the record company demanded he put his name on it. The first of their two studio albums was Ben Harper and Relentless 7 - White Lies for Dark Times, by the second album it was just Ben Harper - Give Till It’s Gone.

The answer is to just keep turning this music up very loud and dancing until your hearing is as bad as eds.tragabigzanda wrote:You know what's weird about this album? It actually sounds pretty good on laptop speakers.*
