i dont mean this as a criticism, but Dissident has always felt like the most generic pearl jam song - that at its base it forms the template for what people think of when they think of a song that sounds like pearl jan

This is exactly on point. When someone tells you all Pearl Jam songs sound the same, they are thinking Dissident in their minds.

This is exactly on point. When someone tells you all Pearl Jam songs sound the same, they are thinking Dissident in their minds.
And yet, I feel like there aren't really any other PJ songs that actually sound like "Dissident."

It’s I think because Dissident is like a compromise between Ten and Vs. if that makes sense.
