It's arguably Eddie's best vocal performance, arguably their greatest riff, and unarguably the greatest solo. This should be a shutout, and Once and Why Go remain incredible.

Alive is the winner though. Would have been truly epic if Footsteps was there instead of Why Go.

Great round -- three songs all cut from the same cloth. I like different things about all three -- "Once"'s drilling riff and overarching sense of menace, "Why Go"'s gallop and super-catchy chorus (this is one of the older songs that I really think sounds best during the Matt years, almost solely because of what he brings to the backing vocals), and "Alive" -- honestly, "Alive" is a song I've always struggled to really pin down what I like about it. But it's enjoyed something of a resurgence for me as of late. I couls pick any of these but "Alive" is getting my vote today. I'm feeling that "gesture of connection to the audience" thing with PJ a lot more than usual lately, and certainly no song is more emblematic of that than this one.

as an annual PSA, Inwoukd highly reccomend the RVM mix of Alive. It is sharper, less bombastic, greater force and clarity
