Brother vs. Johnny Guitar vs. Betterman

Brother is a nothing song for me. Everything it does well something else from the ten sessions does much much better.

Johnny Guitar is a lot of fun. Filthy, dirty riff (the music is great) and while it's somewhat wordy, it is one of Eddie's more agile vocal melodies, and I like the way the song pokes fun of its subject. It reminds me of the inverse of I Got Shit.

But Betterman is one of their greatest songs, full stop. That we're all overly familiar with it doesn't take away from that.

Brother gets a bad rep. Good song. Better Man is classic. I won’t vote it to the top or probably even close, but it’s such an important song for them. And when they play it live it is pretty killer. When the crowd at MSG 2 in 2010 broke into that applause after the first verse, it was quite seriously the loudest sound I have ever heard in my life. That was a moment.

Brother seems to get a bad rap around here. Johnny Guitar is cringe although the music is alright. Never been a big fan of Betterman although it is great live.

backspacer might be the pearl jam album with the least consensus around which tracks are actually the good ones

Better Man has never made it past the top 32, averaging only 46 votes per tournament. Johnny Guitar is about on par with 47.

Which goes to show how silly RM is, as a rule.
