Re: Post Random Movie-Related Thoughts You Have
Some of it is a bit silly (white woman's Instagram) but I appreciate how much he puts on the table, the stakes for him personally feel very high. The 'welcome to the internet" song is one of the best things ever written about the internet and the "that funny feeling" song is just one of the best songs of the year period. It's very odd, and good. It also came out at the exact right moment, when most people were coming out of pandemic insanity but were still close enough to it to understand the emotions he's talking about. I think it is one of the very few works of art that capture something real about the lockdown and don't feel superficial or ephemeral. I liked it

Argo is right about "That Funny Feeling." I thought Inside was a little overhyped as a piece of pandemic art, some of its jokes were kind of obvious and dull, but that song is something else. And I know I'm correct because Phoebe Bridgers thinks the same thing.

There's this incredible Brazilian stop motion film called Bob Cuspe that I really wish got more hype. I'm sure it'll pop up on MUBI in like six months and gain its dues

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Yeah I watch a fair number of movies but I'm nowhere near done with my 2021 viewing. Probably because I'm loathe to go to a theater, even prior to Covid.Farmer John wrote:There's still plenty of movies I need to see from 2021
