Eddie Vedder - Earthling

When a band is but a fraction of Pearl Jam, but they aren't zero Pearl Jam.

I feel like there are a bunch of three star songs. A few that are better than that. I will listen a few more times and get more familiar with everything. Initial standouts for me are the first three tracks, The Dark, and On My Way.

Awesome. Yea. Super emotional.

Not sure if youve been following but the guy singing "on my way" is Ed's dad.
Really? That’s super interesting. I love that.

Long story short: Some guy of a guy ed met at a baseball camp played music with Eds real dad long ago. Couple years later that guy showed up with a few cd recordings of them playing. Ed took it but didnt listen for a few months.

Now he's dueting with his dad on this album. Incredible!

I have a complicated relationship with my dad (don’t we all), and that subject matter with a beautiful backdrop of powerful music will always resonate with me.

I am really loving Invincible too. Just listed to that for a second time and I’m definitely down with this sound. It’s familiar in some ways. There’s some Peter Gabriel in there. There’s a familiar melody, but I haven’t completely placed everything yet. I sure do like it though.

pretty sure I cried the first time this song played; it's just Ed being incredibly warm, kind and affirming for 5 minutes

Years ago I lived in a spot and had a drive to work where if I put on Modest Mouse's "Dark Center of the Universe" as soon as I pulled out of the driveway, the drums and heavy guitar would kick in right as I was accelerating onto the highway. It was just perfectly timed.

Listening to Invincible makes me want that same experience of going heavy on the gas when Ed belts out "better crooked than straight!"

Proud dad moment:

My 11-year-old son and I were cranking this in the car yesterday. Try came on and he asked "Dad, do you think this sounds like an X song?" :heartbeat:

Don't make light of the weight
You'll fortify the chains
And don't beg for forgiveness
We all need to share and shake the pain

Really like this set of lyrics. The sentiment is spot on.
