Severed Hand and Marker are two songs I almost love but can't quite get all the way there.

For Marker my biggest issue is the production. It's another one of those songs whose aggressive mix doesn't play to its strengths. The chorus, especially. Would have worked better on Yield

And Severed Hand just needs to be louder/more aggressive. The core song is really cool. Would have liked it on Vs/Vitalogy (two different directions for the same song)

They're both good though. It's just that the Life Wasted - World Wide Suicide - Comatose (plus Parachutes) are my highlights. And Come Back, I suppose. Still a very strong run through Parachutes. It's side B of the album that lets the air out a bit

I was a little burnt out on WWS when I saw multiple AU shows in 2006, but its a great song. Its one of the 6-7 tracks I still play from S/T. The big guitars + cool riffs still hold up and EV still has that riot act swagger.. I would have liked this album to have more nuances and creativity in the production and a longer track-list like Riot Act or Down on the Upside.

I'd prefer an album to have too many tracks, and have the option to skip or make alternate track listings, rather than be limited to a small snapshot of what the sessions were really like. We are lucky to have the binaural sessions released as they were. I would rank S/T-backspacer higher if more songs from the sessions made the album, or were released.

The WWS snippet we got before the song or album was released, was the most I was ever excited about the song. But it’s ok.

This album definitely has a side A/side B problem, but that issue is far less pronounced for me than it used to be, particularly since I've grown to like Army Reserve and Come Back, which kind of act as the centerpiece of the last half of the record. I find myself reaching for live versions from 2006 almost exclusively if I want to listen to these songs, but I do think it's a good collection of songs, and probably is the most-improved album in terms of how I viewed it after its release vs. where it sits now.

My biggest issue with this album is the lack of subtlety.

Come Back is the Pearl Jam hill I will die on. Absolute heartbreaker of a song with that crunchy rock and roll backbone that kicks in. I feel the same about All or None from Riot Act.
