Other than Pearl Jam, who else is there?

Damn ... I was just listening to the Mad Season songs he recorded and was loving them. I was just thinking that I should listen to more Screaming Trees. :(
Crap great artist. Saw the trees a few times last in 94 opening for Soundgarden. Now all three that lent there voices to Mad Season have passed. Can we put a bubble around Ed and Mark Arm.
I'd feel safe with both of them just not doing heroin
Good point.

Yet another artist I've been thinking "Hey, I should give their music a nice, deep listen" and whoops now they're dead.

Damn.

This is so random - about a week ago I was out in my yard cleaning up dog poop thinking to myself how Eddie Vedder is the last of the living singers from the Mt. Rushmore of ‘90s Seattle rock music, and how wild it would be if Mark Lanegan outlives him.

I’ve posted about this before - some of these Lanegan stories, man, it’s a miracle he even made it to 30.

RIP. Amazing artist.

(How did he die?)

Bubblegum was a big album for me, but I never went much deeper than that for some reason.

His and PJ Harvey's voice together :heartbeat:

I don’t listen to his music often but last night I was going to... but went to bed instead and wake up to this.

He was such a prolific musician and like others have said he really did seem to be almost bulletproof. This is crazy... too much of this news for my liking!

Screaming Trees in 95 was an epic gig. Saw them twice, with QOTSA and with Soulsavers.

Man he was great.

Screaming Trees album Sweet Oblivion is a real classic in this house. Love that album.

Saw him live in 2006. Had a great voice.

That’s not true. Also saw him with queens at the 409 bar in Minneapolis for the songs of Rye deaf record release Party.

That is devastating but not surprising news. He would have been as surprised as anyone to have made it this far.

“ I spent my life trying every way to die
Is it my fate to be the last one standing.”

He was a remarkable talent. Great lyricist, once in a lifetime voice, and insanely prolific. One of the great things about his output was how it took the pressure off of every release. If this one was no good or there were just 1-2 songs you liked there would be another album in 6 months

Probably my second favorite singer after Eddie.

RIP, Mark, and thank you

He wrote a name with the needle gun
In black and blue
Your eyes are stone, she said
Beautiful and dead
And I wish you well

I took a turn on this carousel
How long ago now, I never can tell
I never stopped to wonder
Maybe a morning, maybe a thousand years
I only walk high wires
Attend a needing
The magnolia's dying

Long coarse and primitive
I wish love, lord
I wish love could live, forever
What I once saw burning bright as hell
Now here comes that weird chill
I don't stop to wonder

Threaded a name
Through the needle's eye
As a frame
Tied the ends and stitched it up
And hung my head down and wept
But I wish you well

Who'll pray for the killer's sake
I used to be so wide awake
Like certain mornings
That last a thousand hours

Long coarse and primitive
I wish love, lord
I wish love could live forever
I'm burning bright as hell
Here comes that weird chill
But I wish you well

Your eyes are stone, she said
Truly beautiful and dead
I wish you well

I want to ride on this carousel
But I never really stopped to wonder
