I still enjoy the show despite its shortcomings. Some of these season 5 episodes are worse than I remembered though.

And that's why Damon was so adamant that ABC give an end date.Monkey_Driven wrote:The entire Walt/Michael storyline is product of its time. Too many episodes a season lead everything being too bloated.
The other issue with Walt was that the show was time specific and the kid was growing/aging SO fast. They had to get rid of him.

Just watch Leftovers and you'll know.tragabigzanda wrote:I think this is a good insight. It's still the best network drama/genre series of all time. It was a landmark show and a genuine achievement.lennytheweedwhacker wrote:I still enjoy the show despite its shortcomings. Some of these season 5 episodes are worse than I remembered though.

This may be a dumb question, but had any show prior done flashbacks/backstories in the same way? Yeah I’ve never really researched it, but have often wondered. I think it’s definitely more common now since Lost.epilogue wrote:Maybe? Probably? I don't know. Re: TV: Lost
Season 5 is where I am now, and it's really frustrating. They dropped several characters that they've been establishing since the beginning (Rose and Bernard, Claire), and I'm apparently supposed to give a shit about Miles and Daniel and Scarlett, who came to the island with the crew coming to kill everyone.lennytheweedwhacker wrote:I still enjoy the show despite its shortcomings. I'm sure Claire will be back soon, but I'm halfway through Season 5, and last we saw of her was last season when she left her baby and was just hanging out in the cabin with Jack's dad acting like Brad Pitt in True Romance. "No, I'm cool John. I'm right where I'm supposed to be." WTF?
And why, why, oh fucking, why does no one ever kill Ben Linus. All he ever does is lie and hurt and torture people, and whenever someone points it out, he yells at them and tells one fucking truth, dangling it in front of them like a carrot on a stick. He's the most unconvincing, creepy manipulator there ever was.
If someone had shot him in the face two seasons ago, everyone would be happier.
I'm still liking the show, but I'm feeling that frustration that I remember creeping back in.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

I disagree on the Daniel, Charlotte, Miles storyline. It’s flawed but at least interesting. And I’m okay with Claire disappearing since I always found her irritating
