I remember watching MTV Awards live in my basement. When they sauntered out on the stage and dropped Animal. Oh man. As a 12 year old boy i knew right then it was all over for me.

I can usually defend a bad song... but not cant deny me...

This is a bloodbath in favor of "Animal," and rightfully so. I do like "Go" more, if we're comparing the two, but we aren't. There's an unhinged energy to "Animal" that makes the title completely appropriate. "Mankind" is a quintessential Stone song, sly and irreverent. It's fun, but not essential. "Can't Deny Me" isn't the worst song released under the Pearl Jam name, but it certainly wasn't promising good things back in that year of 2018 when it was the "new lead single." Many of the band's latter day flaws are on display here, though it does breach some stylistic ground that is rare for the group. Easy win for "Animal."
