Last Soldier/Official bootlegs

Post by bucketfinck »

Is this song on any (official) bootlegs?

and what about slow lukin?

Love these two but want the best version possible..also think the iTunes boot Chicago 2-august 2007 looks decent - cool tracklist.

im not positive, but i think last soldier has only been played the 2 times at the bridge school benefit, but im pretty sure it was released as a christmas single which will probably be the best sound quality available

Yes, only heard it from Bridge School and quality is decent enough.

But it would have been great if we got studio-versions of these sometime, maybe featured in a possible lost dogs2..

im still hopeful for a studio last soldier at some point if they do a 2nd lost dogs type of release, but it seemed like a one off kinda thing song i think they say that mike had just written it and they wanted to try it out, but when you see pictures or video in their recording space or warehouse or what ever, youve gotta think they have a recording of it in all those tapes

Wasn't slow lukin a one time thing? MSG2 '12?
You're asking about the Aug 2 07 show, that's the Vic and not Lolla, right? Yeah, I listen to the first half of that one a good bit.

MSG2 2010. Yup, it was that long ago.

It was put to tape during the Riot Act sessions according to http://www.pearljamonline.it/rs.htm and while I'd love to hear it someday, I don't think anything could ever top that Bridge School version.

For those playing at home, they also played it once more in 2004:
http://www.fivehorizons.com/tour/cc/t2004.shtml wrote:2004/09/04 - Westin Hotel: Seattle, WA (2nd Annual IMPACT Awards)
set: Last Soldier, Down, 1/2 Full
notes: Pearl Jam is among four artists receiving IMPACT Awards from the Pacific Northwest Chapter of the Recording Academy for extraordinary contributions to local music. The band is dressed to the nines and Jeff is sporting a deep tan (most likely from his birthday climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro). They perform a very brief, electric set. Stone gives the acceptance speech. 'Patriot' is included on the written setlist as an encore but is not played.

The xmas single version is pretty much perfect. Why would anybody care about having a studio version? Because it has no crowd noise?

Maybe Pearl Jam should only record live albums from now on when putting out new music?

I was gonna say something about Alzheimer's.....But Eddie already has trouble remembering lyrics. So let's just forget I said anything.
