Andy Wallace.....he did the final mix on Nevermind which IMO sounds better than Butch Vigs..hes also produced some great sounding albums

Based on BoB having done some amazing albums several years ago, I wouldn't trust anyone who I'm not convinced is producing amazing albums right now.

Good thread. I do have alot of appreciation for BoB, but his douchiness rubs me the wrong way as it does alot of you. I think something he does do really well is handle Ed's vocals. He seems to push him to places he would not ever broach on Binaural/Riot Act/Avocado, so another producer has to understand the band and the fact that their ultimate strength is Ed.

What about Daniel Lanois? He could bring out the weirder parts of PJ but maybe still focus on Ed's vocals, I think he did that on U2 records, although I don't know who did what between him and Eno.

I say no for Brian Eno, PJ aren't that sort of band to me to psuedo-explore avant-garde.

I'm also thinking Glyn (or is it Ethan? forget who's father son) Johns? Both could be good. One of them did Kings of Leon's second record I think which I loved, and the older one is a classic.

What about Danger Mouse? That could be too trendy but he's a guy who seems to understand rock w/ Black Keys and now U2, but also could really add a modern touch without seeming to pander.

How about contemporaries like Josh Homme or Julian Casablancas? (I remember reading somewhere he wanted to do PJ, I don't remember him ever producing but I think he's a studio guy more than a stage guy and he's a fan).

I also have this pipe dream about Beck doing an Eddie solo album.....
