two former champions whose star has slightly faded. Still this is an easy vote for Immortality for me. Beautiful desolate music that is trying so hard to cling to something, great lyrics, soulful performance.

In My Tree has a great chorus, but the verses have always felt a little lackluster, and the bridge is kind of silly, but not in a good way.

And if it comes to it, I'd rather here Dave A than Jack I

I’d rather hear Dave A, too.

In My Tree, please. This song only gets better over the years, especially when you watch an absolute powerhouse like Matt Cameron be completely befuddled on how to play it. Jack Irons hive unite.

These are both firmly in my top 10. Voted In My Tree but both are completely worthy.

In My Tree. It's one of my top 10 (maybe top 5) songs and Immorality has always been an overrated track for me.

haven't we established that In My Tree was the very first March Madness winner? This goes back a long way. I stuck around here originally due to March Madness. Unless I invented this memory I was shocked that In My Tree won and it was my first realization that people liked No Code a lot more than I did.

We have not. That is a false memory.

Ironically, I think Immortality was the first winner.

The earliest record is the 2004 tournament, which Immortality won. That's not to say there wasn't a 2003 tournament, it's just not archived. You mention to somebody who missed the 2005 tournament that it's been run the "past couple" of years, so that could either be referring to 2004 and 2005, or 2003 and 2004?

I'll die on the hill that the 2010 tournament counts and In My Tree won that.

According to Norman's stats:
2004: Immortality
2005: I Got Shit
2006: Black (TSIS)
2007: Corduroy (TSIS)
2008: Immortality
2009: Black
2010: In My Tree
2012: Tremor Christ
2014: Insignificance
2015: Do the Evolution
2016: Hail, Hail
2017: Last Exit
2018: Go
2019: Go (Live)
2021: Corduroy

Of course you'll see IMT as a winner in 2010 but that wasn't a real MM and so it doesn't count. We've argued about this a lot of over the years.

I'm sure I ran the 2010 tournament. Why isn't it counting?

I'm thinking through my history here. I started posting around Riot Act (I THINK before it came out). Tracking march madness stats was one of my first more high profile board roles before I took over song of the moments. I became a mod in the run up to S/T. So there could have been an 03/02 March Madness. Maybe I am making this up?
