Re: Upcoming Games / Gaming News
Yeah, I'm going to give Elden Ring a shot. I SUCK at Souls-type games, but I've grown to love the action/adventure-esque RPGs. A game rated this highly (so far) is at least worth trying, though I'll probably hold off until I get deeper into Horizon. Just not enough time dammit!
Also if GoW ends up coming out later this year, agree 2022 will right up there with the best gaming years

Re: Upcoming Games / Gaming News
Once again, I'm not that interested in the AAA games this year (except if Baldur's Gate 3 makes it out).
Pessimistically hopeful for Weird West, though something gives me a vibe of it being a disappointment. Ditto on Gloomwood.
I think Atomic Heart was probably a lot smaller in scope until people got really hyped by the first trailer, so again, I'm hoping it lives up to the hype but feeling like it won't.
Sam Barlow struck gold with Her Story, so I'll pay attention to reviews for Immortality, but Telling Lies wasn't great.
I'm intrigued by Redfall because Arkane, but it's not a genre that really appeals to me.
Terra Nil looks lovely.

Some of these Elden Ring reviews are calling it the best game of all-time. I had no intention of playing it after Horizon but I feel obligated to now.Monkey_Driven wrote:Elden Ring is being called a masterpiece. If Forbidden West and this are any indication, 2022 will live up to the hype.

Re: Upcoming Games / Gaming News
considering there's only been games for like, 40 years or so, it's really not that high of a bar... unless you're including cards and dice games and stuff.. but who would compare Elden Ring to Poker?

Such a strange thing to say.

Re: Upcoming Games / Gaming News
I think "greatest video game of all time" is something we should expect to be critically achieved every generation, when looking at how they're currently judged

Re: Upcoming Games / Gaming News
Even if it is only a momentarily accomplishment, it's still quite the accolade to be considered the greatest video game of all time. I was not expecting this level of greatness from Elden Ring.
Clearly, there was no comparison intended to any card game.

You could say this about pretty much any form of media or game.tragabigzanda wrote:I think I get where tree is coming from... I mostly hate the majority of popular games, finding them to be derivatives of derivatives at this point.

Gulp. Does Pokemon Scarlet & Violet's 2022 announcement signal Zelda's delay? I sure hope not.

Probably not September since Xenoblade 3 has a September release date already. Monolith made Xenoblade and worked on BotW2. That would be such a screw job by Nintendo. I'll guess November 18.

They’ve said next to nothing about Zelda. I think next year too.

Re: Upcoming Games / Gaming News
The Max Payne remake might sell me on the PS5, as long as it's not another "GTA Definitive Edition" remake.
