Added to the list.Rob wrote:I watched Titane today. Very weird movie, did not expect it to play out the way it did. But I thoroughly enjoyed it, I think... I'm not squeamish when it comes to gore, but a few moments had me tense up to the point I had to look away for sec. It's a movie that I can't relate to, and is very strange, but is going to stick in my head.

Re: TVG Presents: All Things Horror.
Watched Rob Zombie's first effort again last night. The prequel stuff is just vapid displays of cardboard cut-out characters, not that Zombie ever goes too deep on character development but they're simply the same individuals we have seen in all his films starting with House of 1,000 Corpses; and no, it does not help that two of the actors are the same. Throwing Sheri in to every film, often in prominent roles, is such an amazing mistake I'm appalled he still makes it.VinylGuy wrote:Well, most of Halloween hardcore fans hated Zombie's movies. Not sure why because he went for a different route and for me, it works. I love we see more of Michael as a kid and i also love we see the results on his violence in part 2.
The return to Haddonfield remake portion of the film is often just lifeless gore which fits with the kids that could simply have numbers instead of names, they are the same character. McDowell is always a treat to watch at least.
I don't read this as a treatment for a further Halloween installment but an entirely different film leaning on a franchise to get made.VinylGuy wrote:The guys that wrote Super Dark Times did a treatment for a movie that sounded awesome and i hope they get to do once Gordon Green finished this trilogy.
It was about Michael being this unknown guy who wasnt caught and killed people in the area every halloween and this one was in a shopping mall. Basically he goes after some girls who work there and the movie ended with a bunch of them making it trough the night and Michael vanishing from the place once Halloween is over.
The final shot was Michael without the mask, watching them with the place full of people.
Smiley Face Killers is on Amazon, haven't really thought about Bret Easton Ellis in quite some time so have that queued up for tonight.

Halloween 2 (2009)
Finally rewatched this one...third time I think since it came out and first time since I saw the whole franchise again I think in 2020?
Damn this sequel is one of my favorites. Looks gorgeous , it’s brutal, scary, sad, violent. You really care for Laurie and Annie. And Bracket. It gives Loomis some redemption. It’s brave enough to almost ditch the mask and ends with that awesome Laurie shot at the end.
Such a great one.
I think I’ll watch Resurrection again even if said i wouldn’t

As mush as I enjoy how off-kilter gonzo Chainsaw II was, I really don't feel it was ever meant to be a horror franchise. The original, much like Halloween, I just see as essentially perfect.Farmer John wrote:I regret this decision.Farmer John wrote:Going to watch the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre tonight.

That said, I enjoyed the continuation of the night with Halloween II and that is just ripe for the horror sequel trend but I would definitely be OK without it and subsequent installments.
Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street were perfect vehicles for multiple sequels, Hellraiser I am a little torn on.
That's the horror thing though, right? Always room for a sequel.

Just finished the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
I had fun. I mean, the characters are so fucking stupid and there are very weird and awful moments, but i had fun. I loved how gory it was, and it looks really good.
I also liked the ending.

I tried to watch "Titane" and liked the first third but got bored before it ended and started watching "Yellowjackets" instead, which is OK; "Raw" is a lot better than Titane
"Hellbender" was a bit meandering but I liked it

I'm really conflicted about "Yellowjackets", it's like 1/3rd horror show, 2/3rds Desperate Housewives, and I like slow horror

Yellowjackets is so good and not at all like Desperate Housewives. There's murders in both past and present fyi!

Re: TVG Presents: All Things Horror.
This is absolutely correct. Titane is overrated, a lot of good impulses thrown together haphazardly. Raw was excellent.Ms Harmless wrote:"Raw" is a lot better than Titane

I was gutted because the central metaphor of Titane was excellent, but it just didn't stick to it, unravelled

Re: TVG Presents: All Things Horror.
Shudder has added some relatively non-horror titles since I last checked in or at least direct horror, interesting selections. I will never complain about foreign films, my radar is small enough I would know few if any of these films even exist.
