Re: The Running Thread

Starting this week, I'm upping my runs from 3 to 4 per week. This means that I had to run AND lift yesterday. So, I did a quick 3.25 miler and then did 30 mins of weights.

For a while I think I'm gonna keep that "fourth" weekly run low milage.

7.55 miles at a 9:05 pace today.

Feel pretty good. Left leg is holding up but still giving me more trouble than I'd like.

I'll go out again tomorrow morning. Not sure about distance though. I'm thinking maybe just 5 or so but pepper in some 100 meter sprints? We'll see.

Joe, do you run mostly in Brooklyn or Manhattan? Ever run the high line? Is running even allowed on there?

Some soreness in my shins today as I tackle my second two miler in three days. This is lower volume for race week. Is that soreness normal as my muscles rest a bit?

I run almost exclusively in Brooklyn. Running on the High Line is probably possible... but it would be a nightmare. It's so congested and narrow. I can't imagine wanting to try it.

Maybe something best left to off-peak hours like before sunrise or the dead of night.

Perhaps. I don't know if it ever closes though. It might have hours.

I would never miss running somewhere because it had "hours". Sounds like an adventure in the making.

Fair. But I mean they might lock the entrances.

6.75 at a 9:14 pace today. Not bad since I don't often run two days in a row.

Puts me at 17.55 miles in the week with one more run to go on Sunday.

That just means the authorities will be slowed down on the chase after you scale the gates.

It's like you don't even live in a city, I swear.

Race bib pickup today. The energy is contagious. I want to run the half marathon right now. Ball of nerves and excitement.

Did 6.65km this morning. Not the best run, but also not the worst

Nah - girls were at their gym class. Ran out of time before I had to pick them up
