A good Mike solo can't beat Eddie at the height of his powers.

Imagine you are at your first show post COVID (hell, I haven't seen them since the Lightning Bolt tour). The lights go down. You are breathlessly awaiting the first notes to fill the room, hoping for that magical moment when they start to play All or None.

That's the fantasy of no more than 25 people tops, on this planet. It is entirely possible they all show up in this thread.

I agree that getting a Release opener right now is about the best PJ experience I could ask for in 2022

Not complete lyrics:

Release

Oh, dead dad
Can you see me now?
I am myself
Like you somehow
I'll wait up in the dark
For you to speak to me
I'll open up
Release me

All or None

It's a hopeless situation
And I'm starting to believe
That this hopeless situation
Is what I'm trying to achieve

Here's the selfless confession
Leading me back to war
Can we help that our destinations
Are the ones we've been before?

To myself, I surrender
To the one I'll never please
But I still try to run on
No, I still try to run on

Some powerful lyrics in Release, but All or None’s are some of the best Ed ever wrote.

regardless of how this one ends, All or None is this year’s second look song for me. I have a greater appreciation for it coming out than I did going in

Ha. Release is definitely my pick here. But in fact, that happened for me with a little song called Dance of the Clairvoyants at Sea.Hear.Now.
