Re: What movies are you watching?
General Commander starring the immortal Steven Seagal.

There director/cinematographer is on crack. He is trying to be artsy but it's just tacky bullshit.
It's very mopey. Everyone is crying.
I'm not sure Seagal can walk. He's always sitting down. Excellent performance.
At least one scene is out of sequence.
Not as incompetent was I was expecting.
5 stars out of 5.

This story don't make no sense.
The gunfire in this is the weakest I've ever heard. They just make little 'splat' sounds. It's so cute.

The Smiling Lieutenant (1931)
Just saw The Iron Mask from 1929. One of the major silent movies in the last year of the silent era (even if the first sound movie came in 1927). And the look of this 1931 movie is leaps ahead. Lubitsch really was the king.

Still not a great or very funny story. It was still one year before his masterpiece.

Design For Living (1933)
Another Lubitsch film, and an early Gary Cooper film. This is pretty good. Reminds me of the late 30s comedies, looks it as well. The Lubitsch Touch.

I’m still not sure exactly where TDK stands for me in the Batman franchise. Probably second. I guess,

I saw Batman Begins and wasn't into it; I've always been into the idea of Heath Ledger as joker but that wasn't enough to get me to try it

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.
