Two all timers. Tremor Christ is maybe the best version of the kind of off kilter song they do so well Vaugely unnerving and unsettling. Just a little unexpected, but still rich and melodic. One of Eddie’s best overall lyrics, and a performance that is powerful without resorting to too many of the standard tricks. And that flat outro when everything gets suddenly quiet and still is so powerful.

Also, I was in an advertisement for my college, and the marketing department quoted part of tremor christ in the text.

But Corduroy is, well, Corduroy. It is not my favorite Pearl Jam song, but it is THE platonic essence of what Pearl Jam is. If someone asked you to describe Pearl Jam by playing one song, and you didn’t play Corduroy, you fucked up. Great lyrics, awesome slow burn intro, iconic slashing riff, phenomenal bridge and outro, and so many classic lines. “Everything has chains/absolutely nothing’s changed.” “The waiting drove me mad”. “I don’t want to take what you can’t give. I would rather starve than eat your bed.” “I’m already cut up and half dead.” “Can’t buy what I want because it’s free” “I’ll end up alone like I began.”

There are a lot of songs we take for granted after 30 years. Probably none moreso than Corduroy

Tremor Christ is just incredible. But there are only 3 songs here I’d maybe vote for over Corduory. And unfortunately it’s not one of them.

If a billion call-and-response jams hadn’t irrevocably colored my appreciation of Corduroy, I’d pick it in a second. But that’s not reality.

Tremor Christ.

A vote for Tremor Christ. While I like it a lot, I think Corduroy is my least favorite of all the remaining songs.

I have to go with Corduroy. From the first time I ever heard that quiet little guitar pattern then everything exploding into the first verse, this song had me. Call-and-responses aside, I never get tired of hearing it and always jam the fuck out. It would be hard to say another PJ song is my favorite.

Corduroy might be the signature Pearl Jam song and yet here I am voting for Tremor Christ.
