Release is Pearl Jam at their most transcendent and naked and raw and clean. It is lost in the dark and begging to be found. It is the flawed beating heart that knows we all deserve better. It's just a magisterial song. And it should be the March Madness 2022 winner

I listened to both of these songs today. I watched the Letterman Hail, Hail video, and just now watched the '92 Release video. Both are spectacular, but I'm here to help crown a new champion this year.

After letting it sit for a few hours, I've voted Release. The recorded version doesn't hold up to Hail, Hail, but I've just got too many great memories of Release melting me in a live setting.
