well, thats your view because you are not straight, and its a valid one for sure.

What i mean its that she could be bi sexual and thats fine or maybe annika was a friend or her lady or batman was her guy or maybe she was playing him.

Felt true to the catwoman character.

'My roommate is in danger' and 'my partner is in danger' are two very different motivations. Zoe is clearly playing one. The script has decided not to commit one way or the other despite Zoe's performance.

The film seems to want it both ways. They want the "general audience" to think Selina is sexy and straight while simultaneously trying to score points with non-straight communities as well.

for sure, whether The Batman answers all the questions it asks really depends on which questions you care about

I find it astounding that anyone wouldn't want to know more about Selina and Annika's relationship, and I have more than a hunch that that there would be more of an interest if bisexuality wasn't a possibility on the table

This movie does not want the audience to think Selina Kyle is straight, that's bologna. Just because she does not explicitly say "I am bisexual and we were banging" does not mean that she isn't bisexual and they weren't banging. The audience is not owed an explicit detailed explanation of Selina Kyle's sexuality. That's important to some people, good, but not to everyone. Like VG said, her sexuality is not important to her arc. The movie never leaves us wondering what her motivations are for any of her actions. She loves her friend or she loves her girlfriend, either motivation works. Shoehorning in an explicit statement of sexuality might have felt cheap. That would be meaningful to some viewers, OK, but not to all of us. It wouldn't add anything to the movie for me

It depends on how it was done. Is it a cringe-inducing moment that feels like it is just trying to high five a specific group of people (all the women superheroes teaming up for some reason in Endgame)? Or is it earned in the story (Nic Cage admitting that he loves his Pig)?

Selina calls her "my friend" multiple times

I guess friends can and do sleep together

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Well we could start with this being the first possible option you presented. Or we could start with the idea that you think representation is inherently cringe-inducing. Where do you want begin?

you liked a man loving his pig more than a scene with women teaming up and fighting bad guys "for some reason"? have you ever been around women?

I haven’t seen the movie but is having a gay or bi character in 2022 really pandering or edgy?

I fucking love the idea that female superheroes teaming up and being badass needs to be "earned" by the story, but a bunch of men teaming up and fighting bad guys don't need to do shit to convince anyone that it looks cool

Whaaa? Where am I saying representation is cringe-inducing? I'm saying that there are ways to signal representation that feel cheap. If they wrote a bisexual Selina Kyle into this movie, I would be stoked! But if they made this movie and then two hours into it they had her say "oh by the way, I am bisexual" then turn to wink at the camera, I would be bummed. Make Batman gay for all I care
