Release is easily the weakest song on Ten for me.

Yes, it turned into something more substantial once the band worked it out live over the years - but it's still no Hail Hail.

About "Hail Hail" being better, I mean. I still like "Release"

The part of me that thinks the better song always deserves the vote thinks "Hail Hail" should take this. But the part of me that enjoys the game element of MM wants to see "Release" carry the baton over the finish line

It's not always fun watching dominators dominate. "Release" is the Little Mac of this tournament and it's time for him to take out Iron Mike. Vote for "Release."

The thing about these MM tournaments... they reveal one of my least favorite things about myself. I hate that I'm the kind of person how gets angry or vindictive about music that I love.

Hail Hail is a good song. It deserves to win. I like it. But when these conversations start happening at the expense of another great song, another song that deserves to win, I get all pissy. I'm not proud of it but here we are.

The worst part about this match-up is that the above applies to BOTH fucking songs! I want Release to lose because of the goddamn love-fest discourse around it this entire tournament. But I want Hail Hail to lose because of the discourse in this thread.

I hate this. I hate me.

Voting for Release.

Seriously though I adore both of these songs. It was a difficult pick.

I (usually) love the discourse in these threads-especially in the context of the tournament. Lets all get vicious about songs we all generally like or love (especially after round 1-2). Looking at you, $%^$ing Cropduster

It works out for you though because the songs you think are the best end up advancing one way or another. Not seeing Cropduster in the final is a win for you.

yea but he has to carry the burden of thinking Binaural is awful and backspacer is some of their best work.

Yeah, but here we are with Hail Hail and Insignificance instead of Alive, Jeremy, RVM, State of Love and Trust, Elderly Woman, Animal, Dance, Life Wasted...

And Cropduster got a hell of a lot further than any of my beloved Lightning Bolt or Backspacer songs

Binaural is awful and Backspacer is some of their best upper middle work
Spoiler: show
Binaural is fine - being at the bottom of Pearl Jam is still pretty good. Half of it is great.

See, it's tough with you not knowing which songs are competing... and misspelling song titles... and not counting final tracks as final tracks....

Don't forget fudging the results on all of "In the Moonlight"'s matches so as to downplay its dominance
