Read that it's a rare occurence of WWE not owning it, and another report that Tony had been working on getting it for a while.

This doesn't bother me much with a TV title. AEW have been pretty good about world title reigns being meaningful so far.

Four female world champions, longest reign 372 days.

Four male world champions, longest reign 346 days.

Nine TNT title reigns from six different wrestlers, longest reign 186 days.

One TBS title reign, 64 days so far.

Its that weird 2 week run Cody got at the beginning of the year that makes this seem that way, I think Cody was pulling some carny shit during that time that messed up whatever they had planned.
