Hit level 31. Have beaten the Castle Mourne boss Leonide Misbegoten but am struggling against Margitt big time. Going to level up some more before trying again.
Picked this up over the weekend and logged about 6 hours into it. I haven't really looked at any guides yet, just wandering aimlessly and getting my ass beat while i learn the systems .
Vagabond. Strength/dex. I only recently, around 20 hrs in, started using magic/ranged attacks. I feel like melee is the funnest way to play the game. I beat a boss using some magic and it felt like cheating.
I’m astrologer. Magic could be cheap but you have to find good staffs and it took me about 10 hours to find a good one. Still getting beat down a good bit.

Do you think you feel that way because your introduction to the genre was with Sekiro and Bloodborne? I ask because I used to feel similarly, but purposely built a more magic-based character with the Demon's Souls remake and found it to be rewarding/challenging in a different way.

Could be. It’s just my preferred style I guess. Feels more immersive for me.
This game is seriously remarkable, unlike any other open world game I’ve played. Worlds are different, your hand isn’t held at all and the sense of exploration and discovery is wild. Just when you want to toss your controller, you get past a boss and a rush of adrenaline comes over your body.

Yeah, i did an all-round build in Demon's Souls and the ranged magic attacks were a nice change of pace. I still don't have any ranged weapons or magic abilities yet in Elden Ring (<10 hours in), and i'm really missing it.
Alright, I’m just over 10 hours in and this game has its claws in me real good.
I was enjoying it but feeling a little aimless simply out wandering Limgrave so I consulted a couple of guides on things to do in the early game and got leveled up pretty good before heading to Stormveil. I managed to defeat Margit on my first attempt (with a summoned NPC and upgraded lost wolves assist) which was a big shock. I didn’t even get to use Margit’s Shackle that I paid 5000 damn tunes for. Anyways once I started making my way through Stormveil Castle it really started feeling like a souls game.
I don't even know who that is. It's so fun how divergent everyone's paths are. Already can't wait to start a new game and I'm not even close to finishing this one.
