WASHINGTON — The United States conducted a drone strike against Al Shabab militants in Somalia this week, the first such military action against the Qaeda affiliate in East Africa since August, the military’s Africa Command said on Thursday.

A contingent of 27th Fighter Squadron F-22 Raptors, and Airmen assigned to the 1st Fighter Wing, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, recently deployed to Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates.

Under the direction of the Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III, the mission will be to assist the UAE, one of the United States’ long-standing strategic partners, amid a series of recent attacks.

“This team of ready Airmen, ready aircraft, and ready logistics are always prepared to support our combatant commanders downrange,” said Col. William Creeden, 1st FW commander. “With the vital support of the 192nd Wing and the 633rd Air Base Wing, we were able to provide short-notice air superiority to U.S. Central Command.”

Bombing Al Shabab, a terrorist group, is nothing like Russia’s war with Ukraine.

The US is not bombing Palestinians. Nevertheless, the Israeli-Palestine conflict is tragic, and just like in Ukraine, or anywhere else in the world, it is equally terrible when civilians (especially kids) are killed. Israel do have a great responsibility, with their superior military strength, and US with vetoing in the UN, when Israel are at their worst. It is also something that gets constantly brought up, condemned. Certainly not forgotten, but it’s very sad that they can’t find a way to live in peace. Despite what I’ve said about Israel, both sides have a responsibility in that regard. A lot of hate on both sides.

I was just pointing out that "US security" seems to require the US bombing other independent countries on a daily basis.

Not equivalent, but certainly not an example of peace and irreproachable foreign policy.
