My only complaint at this point is the Joker scene. Cut that shit.

Another second viewing observation: accountants come to Wayne Manor early on but we cut ahead in time to another scene before we see them. Nashton’s stated profession is forensic accountant. Was he there casing the joint with his brethren? Deleted scene with Dano and Pattinson?

I could do without the Joker scene also. Just felt very tacked on.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I will say more! it was just a lot to absorb and it's late

I have no complaints, it all felt cohesive and of a piece

one thing that disoriented me slightly is that the movie has the first two scenes play in the opposite order to Giacchino's score; that had me scratching my head for a while, but I figure the switch just made commercial sense for selling the album

I've seen people say the last third was out of the blue and ill-fitting, given the kind of killer The Riddler is, and I disagree
Spoiler: show
I think the ultimate plan makes sense in the mind of The Riddler; want to wash out the corrupt of a whole city and ultimately Bruuuuce... Waaaayne? blow the whole shit up and drown everyone; I think the isolated individual killings were only meant to lead Batman on a wild goose chase and, in the mind of The Riddler, act as a slow-burn recruitment strategy for Batman to join him; in the jail scene between them, we learn that the plan has not worked, and Batman stands *for* the city, while Riddler stands *against* it... KABOOM! the last scenes of The Batman rescuing civilians are so moving, I teared up

The Penguin is hilarious; I chuckled at many points throughout the movie ("thumb drive") and disagree with people saying it's humourless, did they even watch the Nolan trilogy? that's humourless

Selina Kyle hasn't found all of her Catwoman-isms yet, and isn't consistently in character; this to me works perfectly in this Reeves and Kravitz iteration; we see plenty of the character traits she'll hone and embrace later though, e.g. manipulation, crocodile tears to get what she wants from the corrupt; but most importantly, she feels like a real human being in this film and I love that

Paul Dano is spectacular, obviously; "nooooo... this is NOT how it was supposed to go!" is burned into my memory, and
Spoiler: show
his YouTube-esque videos to his followers are, again, hilarious... "goodbye!!" *waves*
there is just enough Alfred, for now; I'm wondering if the next movie will develop the Bruce / Alfred dynamic just as this movie developed the Batman / Gordon dynamic; Gordon was wonderful and I enjoyed that relationship playing out like a Mulder & Scully deal; again, not without humour: the punch, run through corridor chased by cops, realistically slow grappling hook, then the vertigo / flying suit / face plant... that whole sequence was like a nod to classic Adam West Batman, to me
