Didn’t they play RITFW twice during this set?super nintendo chalmers wrote:Wow, I completely forgot they did Rockin on this set. Why in the hell isn't it included?
That said the audio quality is waaay better than the shitty MP3s I had twenty years ago.
The Unplugged show never really did much for me. Black is good. It’s funny looking back now and seeing someone think that writing on their arm would make a difference.

Re: Unplugged
its easy to be cynical. i 100% agree with strat. mtv was a big platform at the time, i'm sure it had this effect on a lot of people.Strat wrote:It did.Matters wrote:Didn’t they play RITFW twice during this set?super nintendo chalmers wrote:Wow, I completely forgot they did Rockin on this set. Re: Unplugged
I had no idea what Ed was writing on his arm but I knew he was angry about some of the right things, and "pro-choice" / "my body my choice" etc. proved to be influential in ways I couldn't have foreseen

Re: Unplugged
it felt like the kind of big, sweeping, ‘music can say something’ kind of statement I had never seen before. It made everything about the band feel more important

Re: Unplugged
In hindsight, wasn’t he just mansplaining on a topic he’s not supposed to have an opinion on?
Watching the tv show at the time, I was bothered that you could see the writing under his sleeve during the song before Porch, making the song sequencing edit obvious.

Re: Unplugged
no, because 1) he wasn't "speaking" to women / a woman in particular, but to his general audience, 2) I don't remember if he spoke at all, I only remember the writing on his arm, but in any case, saying "I support something" is not mansplaining, it's allyship

Re: Unplugged
this was always weird, but how do you not end the show with 'porch'? especially since they cut 'ritfw'Matters wrote: Watching the tv show at the time, I was bothered that you could see the writing under his sleeve during the song before Porch, making the song sequencing edit obvious.

Re: Unplugged
Let’s hope they one day release a deluxe edition with the whole show, in order. I could swear I have heard it and there was nothing bad or embarrassing there. Can’t recall if the encore is something I heard. I don’t recall hearing Garden or Leash unplugged before.

True and I shouldn’t assume Ed’s intentions anyway.warehouse wrote:its easy to be cynical. i 100% agree with strat. mtv was a big platform at the time, i'm sure it had this effect on a lot of people.Strat wrote:It did.Matters wrote:Didn’t they play RITFW twice during this set?super nintendo chalmers wrote:Wow, I completely forgot they did Rockin on this set. Arrested Development and Mariah Carey were filmed the same day? I didn’t know they even did that.tragabigzanda wrote:Well-known producer Ryan Hewitt just confirmed this performance was recorder to 2” tape. Wonder what ever happened to those?
