Re: NBA Thread
Wolves avoiding the play-in would be an excellent season for them, regardless of what happens in the playoffs.

Watched the Celtics last night beat the Thunder to finish the West Coast road trip at 4-0. Tatum is hot. The defense is nails. But I somehow still lack confidence entering the playoffs w/ this team and I don't know why.

I guess it does beg the question if Tatum is ready to take and make that final shot in a close game on a consistent basis.Bammer wrote:Because Larry Bird is not walking through that doorCoach wrote:Watched the Celtics last night beat the Thunder to finish the West Coast road trip at 4-0. The East is wide open. I could see any of the top 4-5 seeds making the Finals.

Exactly, the top five teams are separated by just a few games here and there. Three teams are 2.5 games back of first. Crazy. Feels like the NFL.Monkey_Driven wrote:The East is wide open. I could see any of the top 4-5 seeds making the Finals.

Both the Bucks and Celtics have the advantage of roster continuity and general good health.Coach wrote:Exactly, the top five teams are separated by just a few games here and there. One of the top 2 teams is most likely going to get stuck with the Nets round 1 while lower seeds get to play the Bulls and Cavs.

I'd add the Heat to this as well.Monkey_Driven wrote:Both the Bucks and Celtics have the advantage of roster continuity and general good health.Coach wrote:Exactly, the top five teams are separated by just a few games here and there. The Heat really haven't had either. Bam missed 7 weeks, Jimmy's only played 49 games.
As of March 4 Bam, Jimmy, Lowry, and Herro had only played 74 mins together for the season. The more updated version from Monday is they've played 51 fourth quarter mins together.

The core group has had a deep playoff run, however. I guess that's what I'm referring to. Lowry is a wildcard, but he's been deep into the playoffs before as well.4/5 wrote:The Heat really haven't had either. Bam missed 7 weeks, Jimmy's only played 49 games.

Gotcha. I misunderstood what you meant. That loss to the Sixers Monday night has me at my lowest point of optimism this season.Monkey_Driven wrote:The core group has had a deep playoff run, however.
