That would have been ridiculous. Almost as ridiculous as the time a barback I once worked with called the police and attempted to press charges on a bartender who wouldn't stop poking his nose with a bar spoon and saying "boop" during a shift. (true story)

Of course it's not the same thing, but they are both the same in the sense that neither require police intervention. Also it was an excuse to share that story which continues to be hilarious to me.
Spoiler: show
The barback who called the police got arrested, weirdly enough. He had traffic warrants.

Did you hear his acceptance speech? He was talking about how as actours in this business they have to endure and just laugh when being made fun of and stuff. Is it really that hard to laugh at yourself? I do it all the time.

Even if you think the slap was just a bad moment that could happen to anyone---it boggles the mind that he just sat there laughing for the next hour and then a whole room of morons gave him a standing ovation that same night

If it was a random dude that attacked him at a comedy show he did, he would have.

What about the serial booper? Hope he got his ass kicked...or at least slapped.

Invoking god and the devil. Laughable. What a magician he was. I can’t believe people applauded him.

washing machine wrote:I'll walk not calling it violent back a bit. You're right. That slap was de facto "violent." The language was aggressive. He probably should have been walked out of the building, but I'll stop way short of saying he should have been arrested or even that this was a toxic display of masculinity. I guess that's where the bee in my bonnet comes from. This behavior isn't some new thing. Like spike pointed out, I see it in the bar often (and we train our door staff to de-escalate it by walking people out of the building.) We see worse in baseball games, as I've pointed out. It's the attempt to load the event with deeper meaning of capital V violence, like the kind that escalates into true fisticuffs, that I think is overboard. A man insulted another man's wife, then got slapped by a husband who thought he was doing the right thing in the heat of the moment. Is that really so surprising? This is how the world works.
It's different. He's not just some guy in a bar. He's up there on his pedestal with his platitudes; "I am God's vessel for love" on the very night he SMACKS rock in the face. Hypocritical, ironic, hilarious.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.
