i'd imagine jokes about an illness get old quick, and it obviously upset her.tree_ wrote:Like, don't these celebs get it by now? Don't they know some comedian is going to poke jabs at them at a rewards show? Is it that hard to just giggle and move on? It's not like she has cancer. She's balding. It's cosmetic. And she makes it work. It's like making fun of Cindy Crawford's mole.

What's more, the live TV part is what makes it good. It would have sucked so bad if he hit Rock off-camera at an afterparty and we never got to see it.Jorge wrote:OK what he did was bad but not because of the sanctity of live TV

Look, my sphere of influence in this world is 30” tall and doesn’t even know how to tie her own shoelaces yet. My view is that people’s need to project their sense of justice onto a couple celebrities they’ll never meet is a bigger symptom of our collective sickness than whatever happened at the Oscars last night. It made for entertaining clickbait while I was brushing my teeth I guess.

It’s not about the sanctity of live tv. It’s the fact that the entire world is watching and he threw a violent temper tantrum like a child. The. Went up there and spoke about love. Nothing to do about protecting the image of the oscars or whatever else.Jorge wrote:OK what he did was bad but not because of the sanctity of live TV

Re: Are you not going to watch the Oscars this year?
I was attacked twice without provocation (14 and 20 years old), and I did not hit back either time. The first time I wrestled my class mate to the ground, but still found his attack very upsetting. He was a troubled young man. Life has not turned out well for him. I did press charges the second time. It was shocking, from two guys I had never met or talked to, that suddenly attacked me. The friend I was waiting for came, and we managed to walk away from the situation. Got a black eye, and went to the police in the morning. Have probably been other situations in my life, but these are the first to come to mind, and I have not hit anyone.warehouse wrote:have either of you actually ever hit someone, though?Anders wrote:Co-signed.Mickey wrote:Married man and wife-haver here, responding to Reid: if I, personally, was a millionaire movie star with a wife who had a medical condition, and Chris Rock made a joke about that medical condition on live tv, I can pretty confidently say I would not march onto the stage and slap him in the face. There's a pretty big gap between wanting to hit someone and actually doing it, and then another gap between doing it and doing it on live TV.

Re: Are you not going to watch the Oscars this year?
I'm not sure that's fair. She's not a gazillionaire celebrity at her husband's side at a rewards show. They're fair game for stupid jokes. The joke wasn't even harsh. "uhh gonna be in GI Jane 2.. uhh cause of the hair!" "yup, hee" is the only reasonable reaction here. "Uhh.. cindy crawford has a mole.. uhh"... "yup"...warehouse wrote:what kinda weirdness does your wife have that we can make fun of repeatedly?tree_ wrote:I have a giant skin tag on my lower back that people recoil at the site of.
