Re: Yield: Official Album Thread
Yield has aged better than just about any other Pearl Jam album, too. Maybe Vitalogy beats it on that score. But Yield is steadfast.
And I love the way Ed sounds on the entire album. I can't think of a moment where his vocals bug me or turn me off.

Ed sounds amazing yeah...and the production is superb. Im really glad Brendan called them about him not doing the record.durdencommatyler wrote:Yield has aged better than just about any other Pearl Jam album, too. Maybe Vitalogy beats it on that score. But Yield is steadfast.

This was the last time PJ released an album that became my favorite.
It held that mantle for several years until Vitalogy slightly edged it out. And, it might be for sentimental reasons that I put Vitalogy ahead of it.

Re: Yield: Official Album Thread
Having listened to Yield yesterday I think it is a more enjoyable album than Vitalogy but I am not sure that it is better. Yield definitely has the power to brighten up a dark day, but Vitalogy has a mood, feel and energy that still remains almost 20 years later after an unspeakable number of listens. They are definitely my 1/2 or perhaps 1= depending on the mood I'm in.EJ wrote:This was the last time PJ released an album that became my favorite.

While a Western guitar motif lost on the swings drum bass fusion, get your own thoughts into the subconscious often forgotten. "Pendulum" is a sweeping soul from the ballast.

This is where I'm at. Yield is probably more enjoyable, but I think Vitalogy is the superior album.Blenheim Augustine wrote:I think it is a more enjoyable album than Vitalogy but I am not sure that it is better. And, there's something about Vitalogy, warts and all, that represents when PJ was the most important band in my world. For some reason, that gives more meaning to the songs for me.

Vitalogy sounds like a bunch of musicians who will either record the songs that are inside them or break apart. The whole album is held together with desperation. That makes for a pretty intense listen that none of the other albums can match

i dont listen that really. Its really direct, but feels more like an Eddie proyect, while No Code and Yield are more PJ records.stip wrote:Vitalogy sounds like a bunch of musicians who will either record the songs that are inside them or break apart. Re: Yield: Official Album Thread
and PJ records while they were at their best, all of the albums since seem like group records but with somehting missing. now all have gotten families and other things that take their time other then just PJ so maybe the albums since are full of music written by all the band members but all on their own then brought to the band to work on together, but No Code and Yield sound like the band hung out together writing music until they had what they wanted for the albums. i love that all the guys bring stuff to the records instead of Ed doing 90% of the writing, but i miss that feeling of them writing every piece of music together as a band, even if thats not how it went with Yield and Nocode, it feels like it was.VinylGuy wrote:i dont listen that really. Of all the Pearl Jam records, Yield contains the highest number of songs that my wife enjoys.
