Yeah it doesn't surprise me at all, Breitbart used to have an entire section of their page devoted to "black on black crime," macphisto regularly makes these kinds of arguments--the fact that you didn't anticipate this suggests its own form of cherry-picking.

weird (ha! something you failed to account for and predict!), but I'll entertain it

I knew it would come up eventually, but I wasn't going to make more work for myself by addressing it until it did

Ah. See there's the problem right there.

Brietbart. Macphisto. Not exactly good-faith representations of the party of conservative intellectual thought.

I believe you're conflating conservatism with racism. Shocking, I tell ya.

I posted three published articles from right of center sources when this question was asked a few pages ago and they got more or less ignored because they are an "exception" somehow.

The Fresh Prince could never have handled being at a Dean Martin Roast.

I don't understand why race matters here.

Will Smith is an icon in our generation, but off screen has been a lunatic for quite some time. Chris Rock handled it as well as you can. I'm really not sure there's more to it than this.
I believe the point about race is that black women have historically been (and continue to be) scrutinized for their hair, especially for having "natural" hairstyles, which Rock as the host of a documentary about this very topic should have been more sensitive about before making a joke about JPS's hair, which is both natural and a choice she made as a result of a medical condition.
Well, it's kind of the job of a comedian to push/find boundaries. Overly sensitive comedians don't tend to be very good. I do see the point being made, maybe it was in bad taste, but Smith's reaction was too much.

The point is you don't know, cause there's no way of knowing, and that's an awfully drastic measure to take when you don't know. And I even heard it as a compliment, cause GI Jane is a hot, honorable character. If he had called her Shrek, that's an insult. That simple.

lol you heard it as a compliment about 10 pages ago. did you see her face after the remark? did you think that was the face of someone who just received a compliment? get real dude. you can argue smith was out of line, but pretending the comment was a compliment is way too far.

Seems that way to me, and I explained how I got there. You can't even explain how that was an insult.

Yeah, she misunderstood him is my opinion. Even Will Smith thought it was a harmless joke until he saw her face.
