it really depends what it is, because "offense" isn't created equal; just like how you've all gone apeshit because I dared to utter the words "Chris Rock deserved it"

I mean Jesus Fucking Christ, it's amazing that nearly everyone here has demolished that opinion as completely outside the bounds of adult compassion and civility

Bada had maybe the best take I've ever read about how tree works his magic in this thread. Forget what page it was on but it was great.

Something about walking into a closed door over and over again and wondering why it keeps happening since yesterday it was open.

there’s a reason that assault and battery are against the law and that you can be sued for those offenses in a civil court. there are no “it depends on whether the offender finds the speech offensive” or “he only grazed his cheek” (which creates a terrible slippery slope) exceptions.

I’m guessing most of this is motivated by you having a partner that also has alopecia, and that you (understandably) found Chris Rock’s joke offensive. But that doesn’t mean you can just batter someone for it. This isn’t the Wild West of justice.

Wait, you are hinting that maybe there is some male chauvinism going on here, right? Hmm. Interesting.
