I really feel like a scaled back album could push the live show up a few notches.given2trade wrote:awesome. i'm starved to see these guys live too.

JamBase wrote:The National will hit the road this summer for their first North American tour since 2019. Consisting of both festival appearances and headlining tour dates, the trek spans July 15 – September 25. Japanese Breakfast, Lucy Dacus and Bartees Strange each support at select shows.
“We are excited to finally share our full tour itinerary for summer 2022,” The National said in a statement. “The last couple years have given us ample time for reflection and rejuvenation.”
After touring Europe in May and June, The National launches the North American leg with appearances at the Pitchfork Festival in Chicago on July 15 and the Ottawa Bluesfest on July 17. Concerts in Shelburne, Vermont (July 19); Cooperstown, New York (July 20) and Portland, Maine (July 21) come before the band’s performance at the Newport Folk Festival in Newport, Rhode Island on July 22.
The August portion of the trek includes headlining dates in Calgary (August 7); Missoula, Montana (August 8); Ogden, Utah (August 9) and Dillon, Colorado (August 10) amid festival appearances. A month later and after a return to the UK, The National will perform at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre near Denver on September 12. From there the group will make stops in Kansas City (September 13); Minneapolis (September 14); Milwaukee (September 16); Maryland Heights, Missouri (September 17); Indianapolis (September 18); Pittsburgh (September 19); Boston (September 22) and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania (September 24) before playing the inaugural Sound On Sound Festival in Bridgeport, Connecticut on September 25.

Re: The National
I really love their studio recordings, but live is hit and miss. It seems to me this depends on how drunk Matt is. Not something I want to gamble on.

It takes a lot of things falling into the right place to get out to a show, so unfortunately I'll be sitting this one out. Wish the Boston show was on a weekend.

I don't go to shows any longer and even when I did it would take a lot to get me to a fest but the idea of them at Newport for Folk Fest sounded pretty awesome. Wonder if they'll drop in at any spots around town as some bands do.Simple Torture wrote:It takes a lot of things falling into the right place to get out to a show, so unfortunately I'll be sitting this one out. Another batch of horrible tour dates for me.

Looks like they're coming to St. Louis. I'll see how much tickets are then decide. My wife would be thrilled.

They played Lupos in I think 2011--was sort of last minute so I didn't go. Would try like hell if they did that again.oasisfan35 wrote:I don't go to shows any longer and even when I did it would take a lot to get me to a fest but the idea of them at Newport for Folk Fest sounded pretty awesome. Re: The National
other than PJ and Wilco, I’ve seen them more than any other band. I think I’m at around 30 shows by now. I am lucky that they play chicago or near a lot.

Re: The National
My summer window is from about June 10 to the second week of August. The Chicago date is fine but the festival is less than ideal. There are a couple other dates that are okay, but I guess it'd be more accurate to say the dates/locations weren't great. After school gets back in it pretty much has to be a Saturday show which leaves St Louis and Harrisburg. Idk. Maybe we could do Portland and a trip to Acadia NP. That's actually intriguing.Chris_H_2 wrote:What would’ve been more convenient for you?4/5 wrote:Another batch of horrible tour dates for me.

Ended up grabbing tickets for the Portland show and if I end up going I owe you a big thank you for making me reinspect the dates a little closer.Chris_H_2 wrote:What would’ve been more convenient for you?4/5 wrote:Another batch of horrible tour dates for me.
