I like Black Summer enough, but its one of those kinda disposables singles, like Dani California.

for some reason my itunes didnt grab that one and Bastards Of Light. Listening to She´s a lover right now and yes, i agree...i love this vibe, also feels very RHCP from the 80s, kinda like their cover of If You Want Me To Stay

OK, had a couple more listens. So far I only like: 'Here ever after, aquatic mouth dance, the great apes, these are the ways, bastards of lights, the heavy wing (best track here!).

Thats 6 out of 17...ouch... Some of the other tracks are perhaps the weakest they have ever recorded with Frusciante and really sound like b-sides. This band has many many b-sides and most Californication or BTW b-sides are more developed songs than some songs (Not the one, White Braids & Pillow Chair, One Way Traffic, Veronica,....) on this album. Not even sure I think it's better than the Klinghoffer albums

Premature ranking

1 - BSSM
2 - Californication
3 - Uplift Mofo Party Plan
4 - By the Way
5 - One Hot Minute
6 - Mother's Milk
7 - Stadium Arcadium
8 - the Getaway
9 - Unlimited Love
10 - I'm with you
11 - Freaky styley
12 - RHCP

I like it better than the two albums with Josh. The songs have more teeth and they try new stuff too.

I like those two albums with Josh, but this one is better.

This was my initial take too, but I'll give it another spin soon.

I do like Poster Child and Aquatic Mouth Dance.

I listened to a good 3/4 of this again and it sounded somehow even worse than my first impression.

Sorry, I'm disappointed too.

I didn't like the last few Frusciante albums, so I guess my expectations were probably out of whack.

Would've definitely benefited from more of this kind of thing:
